We’re excited to welcome you to CZC! If you are travelling internationally, you may want to read this guide.

Preparing to Travel to Canada

Step 1: Check your Travel Documents: Electronic Travel Authorization and Passport

Citizens of all countries – including the USA – must have a valid passport to enter Canada (unless you are an American driving across the border and have an Enhanced Drivers Licence. If you don’t know if this applies to you, assume it does not.)

In addition, if you hold a passport other than American or Canadian and are exempt from a visa requirement, you may require an ETA to enter Canada. It costs $7 and takes about 5 minutes to apply. Make sure you use the Government of Canada site directly, and not a third-party site!

Preparing for your CZC Check-In

1: Locate your ticket

You can view your ticket either by logging into Danceplace or through the email sent to your inbox. You’ll need this or your ticket number at registration. Please make sure you verify what kinds of tickets you have. The description of your pass will indicate what it includes.

2: Make sure you bring ID

All attendees are required to have valid government-issued photo ID to present at check-in. Please note that trying to check-in using someone else’s name can result in a ban from CZC. If you are using a transferred ticket, you must complete the transfer process prior to CZC.

3a: International Ticket Holders: Provide Proof of Travel

If you hold one of our International tickets, you’ll need to provide proof that you traveled from outside Canada and the USA to attend CZC. This can be in the form of a boarding pass or confirmed airfare no less than 30 days prior to the event start date, showing that you traveled to Toronto for the event.

If you are unable to provide this proof, your entry may be refused and ticket refunded at the door.

Getting from Pearson Airport (YYZ) to Hotel

If you are flying into CZC and arriving at Pearson Airport (YYZ), you have a few options to get to the venue:

  • UP Express train & Public Transport
  • Cab, Lyft or Uber
  • Rent a Car

Transit

The cheapest, but longest, option is the UP Express, followed by a subway and bus ride. This may take around 1.5 hours, and will cost between $10 and $15 Canadian:

  • Take the UP Express train from Terminal 1 to Bloor Station. Transfer to the subway
  • Take the Bloor line subway east to Broadview Station
  • Transfer to bus 100A – Flemingdon Park to Don Mills & Wynford
  • The hotel will be across the street on your left.

Cab, Lyft, or Uber:

You can order a rideshare or a cab from the arrivals area of either terminal. Simply ask they to take you to the Toronto Don Valley Hotel and Suites.

Rent a Car:

If you rent a car at Pearson Airport, the hotel is a straightforward highway drive:

  • Follow signs for Highway 401 Eastbound
  • Take exit 375 – Don Valley Parkway. Keep right at the fork to head South
  • Take exit 11 – Wynford Drive
  • Stay on Wynford Drive until you see the hotel on your right

Parking

The Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre has free parking. We suggest leaving your car here after check-in, and walking the ten minutes between venue and hotel. Alternatively, the hotel does have paid parking for guests, generally $10-$15 per night.

Travelling Between Hotel and Venue

The hotel and venue are a very short walk. When you exit the hotel, turn left (North) on Wynford Drive. After you cross the highway, turn right onto Garamond Court. The Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre will be on your left.

Food Options

There are a few food options near the venue and hotel:

  • Caterer at the venue (starting Thursday)
  • Restaurant in the hotel
  • Tim Hortons between hotel and venue on Wynford Drive
  • Uber Eats
