Venue Policies
We have a beautiful venue (the Japanese-Canadian Cultural Centre) – but they have a few very important requests of our dancers. We expect you to follow these rules. Otherwise, the venue may choose to remove you – or we could potentially lose the ability to use this venue in the future.
- Only dance in areas that are expressly and exclusively rented by CZC. This means no hallways, back passages, or empty non-CZC rooms. This is because the public and other groups use the space at the same time.
- Do not bring any outside alcohol into the venue at any time, and do not smoke in any way inside the venue (including vaping). No drinking is permitted in the parking lot or venue.
- Pick up any trash and clean up any spills. No food or staining drinks on the bleachers.
- Do not lean on or touch the large white projection wall – it can be damaged easily.
- No heels, marking, or outside shoes in any of the martial arts studios.
Please also do not smoke in hotel rooms, and follow all hotel policies.
Lastly, we’re thrilled if you meet someone special. But, please make sure you avoid expressing your connection at the event venue. We want everyone to have a good time – and that includes people who may come across you and your partner. We also would like to keep using our venue 😉
Eco Policy
CZC tries its best to be as green as possible. As a result, we attempt to not print unnecessary signs or papers, to re-use any printed materials that are required. Therefore, we do not offer paper copies of our schedule. All our scheduling information can be accessed digitally at the registration desk, or by downloading the Danceplace Events app.
We also try to minimize the amount of plastic throw-away items and other waste we produce. Therefore, we offer refill stations for you to bring your own water bottle, but do not offer water bottles for sale and ensure any plates, cutlery, and cups used for artist meals are reusable, recyclable, or biodegradable.
Children and Dependents Policy
You are welcome to have dependents under the age of 16 attend the event venue with you without a full pass. However, they are not considered attendees of the event, and Canada Zouk Congress makes no representation or guarantee as to the environment’s safety for your child, music explicitness, availability of childcare, etc.
If you bring your child or dependent, you assume all responsibility for your child, including ensuring they are properly supervised and do not damage the venue or event materials. Any damage caused by your child is your sole responsibility.
Access for Participants with Disabilities or Limitations
You have the right to participate in Canada Zouk Congress activities in a way that accommodates your abilities and/or limitations, unless such accommodation would prevent others from partaking fully in the event or it is too arduous to allow the event to run. For example, you are entitled to have a support person for the purposes of providing personal care, support, or access to activities (if this person is also participating as an attendee, they must have a full pass. If they are solely a support person who will not be participating, they do not need to have a full pass.)
You are also permitted to have with you any personal equipment necessary to support your limitations or abilities, provided it does not negatively impact others in the area and does not violate the law or rules of the event. For example, using medical marijuana indoors is not permitted, but using a wheelchair, walker, support braces, crutches, seeing eye dog, or other device is fully permitted.
